Having just celebrated Good Friday and Easter, Christians are reminded again of the terrible price Jesus paid, as the punishment for our sins was poured on Him. By His death and resurrection, He breaks the power of sin in our lives. He forgives us; but He also gives us His Holy Spirit within us, so we can live for Him. Jesus wasn’t just some great hero we should pattern our lives after – although that’s true too. He is above all the Redeemer of those who put their faith in Him.

I love to bake. I whip up cupcakes, pound cakes, cookies, and other sweet treats in my spare time. But my favorite thing to bake is bread. The process of making bread is so soothing to me. Two years ago, I got on a super health kick and stopped buying store-bought bread. As I started reading the ingredients on the store-bought label, I was shocked to learn that mine at home only had three to five ingredients at most, while the one I bought had more than 10, including preservatives.

Resurrection Sunday is a time to rejoice! Jesus paid a debt for us that no one else could ever pay so that we could be in heaven with Him for eternity. God gave the perfect sacrifice, His only Son, and if we believe in Him, we will be forgiven and saved from our sins. To be saved, you must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and receive Him as your personal Savior so that one day, you can be with our heavenly Father.

In the summer of 2019, we were finishing up our paperwork to be approved to become foster parents. We were blindly anxious about what all that would mean for us.

We just got back from a trip to the beach, a trip centered around a car show. As a newlywed, way back in the late 1970s, I had no clue that my entire life would involve some type of old hot rod. My dad never cared about old cars – or cars of any kind really. He simply viewed his car as a means of transportation. But my husband has always seen the beauty in the American workmanship that it took to build those old cars and trucks, especially the ones from the 1930s through the 1950s.

Clorox offends conservative viewers in its latest commercial, “Clean Feels Satisfying. Clean Feels Good.” In this ad, a woman is cleaning her house using Clorox, and then, at the end of the commercial, she takes off her bra. It is never appropriate for someone to remove an undergarment during an advertisement. Even though the woman in this Clorox ad removed her bra from underneath her shirt, the viewer’s mental image consists of a female undressing and removing her bra.

I remember where I was the first time I heard the words “COVID-19.” In December 2019, my then-boyfriend (now-husband) told me that a virus was sweeping through China and shutting its country down. “That’s in China, though,” I said. “We don’t have to worry about that here.”Boy, was I wrong. We all know the rest of the story: Within a year of that conversation, we had all lived through a pandemic.

Look at that age bracket again – 100 to 369 – and let that statistic sink in. Then, keep in mind that 114-year-old Naomi Whitehead from Pennsylvania is America’s oldest documented citizen, with various reports claiming that only 77 other Americans are currently 110 years of age or over.
