Resurrection Sunday is a time to rejoice! Jesus paid a debt for us that no one else could ever pay so that we could be in heaven with Him for eternity. God gave the perfect sacrifice, His only Son, and if we believe in Him, we will be forgiven and saved from our sins. To be saved, you must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and receive Him as your personal Savior so that one day, you can be with our heavenly Father.

There was deep humiliation at the hands of worthless men and betrayal by close friends; there was excruciating pain and anguish, followed by the torment of crucifixion. And beyond that, there was what seems to have been a deep and unfathomable sense of utter loneliness, leading to the mournful cry, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46).

A May 2024 Pew Research Center (PRC) survey found that a majority (63%) of Americans believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases. However, similar surveys from PRC and even left-leaning pollsters indicate that a majority of evangelical Christians – 60% or more, depending on the poll – hold biblical convictions regarding the sanctity of human life. “Brethren, do not be children in your thinking…..but in your thinking be mature” (1 Corinthians 14:20). I could wish that every pastor would use discernment. That he would “be smart.”To put it another way, I wish every pastor would determine that in the new year, he is going to do nothing impulsively, out of fear, or motivated by false guilt. The “un-smart” pastor–to coin a term–does things that are unwise and unhealthy and in the long run, not beneficial to the kingdom nor to his people.

Forgiveness is a subject that all Christians must confront at some point. Even though we have been forgiven much through the work of Christ, we are still called to extend that same forgiveness to others. Matthew 6:14-15 says, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."This passage should serve as a sober reminder of the seriousness of forgiveness.
