    An event this weekend in Weedsport will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. A public commemoration ceremony will be held on Saturday, beginning at 10:00a, at Aqueduct Park in the village (2500 NY 31).     Two months after moving to Cayuga Community College, the Cayuga County Clerk’s Office will fully open to the public next week. The county has announced that the office will begin accepting walk-ins on Monday. While the clerk’s office will accept walk-ins, it is still recommended that those wishing to utilize its services make an appointment. Appointments can be made by calling 315-253-1271.

    An upcoming fundraiser will help the Village of Union Springs get a new scoreboard for its baseball field. Doug’s Fish Fry to Go will be at the Union Springs Fire Department from 11:00a-6:00p on Saturday, May 31. The village has said that all funds raised from the event will go to replacing the aging scoreboard at Frontenac Park.

    2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the start of the Korean War, and an upcoming lecture in Cayuga County will discuss local contributions to the war effort. Hosted by the Cayuga Museum at its Carriage House Theater, The Korean War, 1950-1954: A 2025 Selective Retrospective will take place on June 4 at 7:00p. At the lecture, Anthony F Gero will use images from local and national resources to tell the story of the major events that shaped the conflict that would birth the Cold War.
