At its Tuesday meeting, the Cayuga County Legislature voted to approve a resolution supporting the closure of Seneca Meadows, Inc in Seneca County and opposing its expansion. The resolution also seeks to have the county named an interested party in the potential expansion, allowing county residents an enhanced public participation in any expansion proposals.

Governor Kathy Hochul’s favorability is up, according to a Siena College Research Institute poll released Tuesday. The poll puts Hochul’s favorability rating at 44-43%, up from 40-50% last month. This is the first time since January 2024 that she has had a positive favorability rating. It also revealed that 48% of those surveyed said they approve of the job she’s doing as governor, up 2% from March.

CCC Celebrates 1st EOP Graduate

Cayuga Community College will celebrate its first graduate from the school’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) this spring. Mari Getman enrolled at CCC in 2022 from Hannibal High School. In December, they completed a Liberal Arts and Sciences Degree: Humanities & Social Science with a concentration in psychology. The Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual State of the Schools event on Monday from 10-11:30a. Auburn School District Superintendent Dr Misty Slavic, Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Superintendent Dr Brian Hartwell, and Cayuga Community College President Dr Brian Durant will present at the virtual event.
