The first day of the Preston Weekender saw the city get on its dancing shoes. Pete Tong, Sam Divine, Macy Lancaster and Mark Freejack kept the tunes flowing throughout Saturday as the two-day festival kicked off welcoming thousands of music fans to the city.

    Work on the multi-million pound revamp of the city’s former court buildings is due to begin this summer. Revised proposals for bringing the decades-long wait for a new future for Amounderness House are now approved. Costing around £9million the building spanning Earl Street and Lancaster Road is grade-II listed.

    A glimpse inside the city’s former courthouse has been given before major restoration work begins. Amounderness House is to become a new office and working hub. But dating back to 1857 the building housed the courtrooms, and cells, for justice being done in Preston.
