So many of us could tell you want went wrong. We probably all have different ideas, and most are probably right. It was a catastrophe of epic proportions that didn’t just begin with this election cycle. Now, however, our energy is focused on watching things unroll so we can be prepared for what’s next. We are concerned about the future of education, the safety of BIPOC, disabled, and queer and trans bodies, and the bits of equity we’ve gained.

It saddens me to know that some counties here in Indiana do not fund libraries. I think the space, connections, and information that these institutions offer make them necessary to any community. Luckily, I live in a county that funds and strongly supports its library. The county I live in, Vigo County, does a fabulous job of funding the Vigo County Public Library System. Recently, VCPL realized the need for a third library branch.

Facebook can be so profound, like it was with the post I saw last week that simply said, “Next week has been exhausting.” Well, friends, here we are at exhausted. I’m writing this the day before election day, and it feels like the calm before the storm. The day I actually voted was so emotional for me and I really didn’t see it coming! I didn’t realize how worried I am about the future.
