The six regular attendees within the organisation meet every month with a focus on companionship and support, and have resumed charity initiatives, raising funds among members. About $8000 has been collected for food charities, including $4000 donated to The SoupBus.

DISABILITY support service eQuality Support will be the official Disability and Inclusion Partner of The Ballarat Marathon until 2027. Marathon event director Adam McNicol said having the organisation as a key partner is about making sure the event is truly accessible to everyone, whether they want to walk, roll or run. “That’s a key aim for us as we set about building the most inclusive running festival in Australia,” he said.

BMX rider Josh Jolly has been named a finalist in the rebel Young Athlete of the Year category of the Victorian Sport Awards. In 2024, the Ballarat Sebastopol Rush BMX Club member won the junior elite world championship title, and the national junior elite and superclass championships. “It is great to be recognised for my achievements by the Victorian Sport Awards,” Jolly said.

IF re-elected to Federal Government on 3 May, the Australian Labor Party has pledged to allocate more than $1 million to crime prevention across the region. A total of $1.5 million has been committed to fund the installation of closed-circuit television technology across the Hawke electorate. Federal Member for Hawke Sam Rae said more CCTV cameras would be installed in Moorabool Shire Council, alongside Melton City Council and Hume City Council.

MINISTER for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos was at Sovereign Hill Hotel on Tuesday morning to announce the State Government is backing 28 projects across regional Victoria as part of the lastest round of the Regional Tourism Investment Fund. The hotel has been allocated funds to cover a 22-room new build, and upgrades to the 13 rooms in the more-than 30-year-old Northern Barracks.
