IN less than five months, the City of Ballarat will begin its food organics and garden organics (FOGO) and glass recycling kerbside collections. From Monday 3 November, FOGO will be collected fortnightly in a green lidded wheelie bin. Each home will be given a kitchen caddie to collect their food waste, before it goes in the bin. Those currently without a green lidded bin will receive one.

BENDIGO Football Netball League senior interleague coach Simon Rosa says the ‘depth and quality’ of the league is reflected in the announcement of the training squad for the team’s clash against the VAFA next month at the QEO. The league unveiled its 41-player training squad on Friday morning. It comes after an intriguing first seven rounds of action in the 2025 season.

MAJOR annual FightMND fundraiser Big Freeze in the Marsh was held on Saturday afternoon at Maddingley Park. Thirteen people from the Bacchus Marsh and Sebastopol football netball club communities were sponsored to slide into an icy pool in costume, all to raise funds for research into treatments and a cure for motor neurone disease. With a goal of $53,000, the sliders raised $55,000 by the time they went down the slide, and the campaign total hit more than $58,000 by the middle of this week.

CONSTRUCTION is underway on the new Early Learning Victoria childcare centre and kindergarten at Teesdale. The site next door to Teesdale Primary School will house long day care and kindergarten programs for up to 102 local three and four-year-old children. The design includes outdoor play areas, on-site parking, a community room, and a maternal and child health consulting room. Slab works and concrete pouring started this week, and structural steel is expected to go up in the middle of this month.
