The news was unmistakable and inescapable: a Greek-inspired flanker fragrance to the prolific collection of Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess, now named alluringly Bronze Goddess Aegea. It was, however, smelling it on a lady at the beach (imagine that!) that prompted me to test it out more meticulously. It's now available for purchase at major department stores, and if you are dreaming of your own azure-laced adventure on a Greek island, it's a must try for summer 2025.

by Elena Vosnaki 16 minutes agoThere is definitely something to be said for animalic fragrances, and I, for one, do not shy away from them, but there is also something attractive about clean and starched scents. They bring on that moment of enjoying clean laundry and the serenity of lying down on washed white sheets. Clean, starched, pressed, they exude a luxuriousness we associate with the feeling of well-deserved grooming and propriety.

It might have been Youth Dew which put Estée Lauder and American perfumery on the fragrance map, yet it is my personal belief that it was Bernard Chant's creations for the Lauder companies in the 1960s and 1970s (Aramis, Estée, Azurée, Aromatics Elixir, and Aliage) which consolidated the particularly good taste and the distinctive flair for the pellucid and the self-confident, to the point of headstrong, for which the Group is known to this day.

The classic fragrance that always comes to mind is, of course, Arpège by Lanvin ("Promise her anything, but give her Arpège"), but the brand has been so much more over the years, employing great perfumers and catering to the nuanced needs of the public who adored their products.
