Sherrill Park is municipal golf at its finest. Two courses, each offering a different challenge while maintaining solid conditions and playability for all skill levels. Sherrill Park No. 2 just underwent an extensive renovation of greens, tees and bunkers, as well as drainage improvements which will help conditions during the rainy spring months. The renovation gives this historic municipal a rejuvenated vibe, making a trip to Richardson well worth the effort.

Tucked in a back alley near Commerce Street, between the Dallas Historic District and Deep Ellum, sits one of the finest restaurants in the city. Sushi | Bar is a concept renowned for its fresh, vibrant take on omakase-style sushi. Seating begins at three different times every evening (5:00, 7:15 and 9:30), and with just two rooms and 10 seats per room, to say this is an exclusive reservation would be an understatement.

The area near the convention center was clean and nice, although it was a little tourist-trappy. There are multiple bars and restaurants along International Drive, offering any number of places to dine and drink. There is also Icon Park, which features an observation wheel. For some reason, there is a business that offers helicopter tours of Orlando, which I found to be a little odd … but I guess maybe people want to do a fly-over of Disney?

The last time we checked in on Texas Rangers Golf Club was back in 2021. The new, state-of-the-art clubhouse had just opened, and the property was finally complete. The course has been up and running since 2019, but the clubhouse took a couple of additional years to finish. Shortly after the completion of the clubhouse, the City of Arlington announced Rangers would be the host site of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Veritex Bank Championship, an event that brought another professional tournament to DFW.

Mansfield doesn’t have many options for golf. Although for the last few decades, it has grown into one of the busiest suburbs in the southern part of DFW, yet your golf options are limited. Of course, there is Walnut Creek Country Club, but it’s private. So, unless you’re a member there, that leaves you with only one option. Mansfield National, or “Manny Nat,” as we affectionately call it here at AG, is coming up on its 25th year as Mansfield’s only daily fee golf option.
