It's everywhere you look: street corners, abandoned lots and local parks, although you tend to smell it before you see it. For six weeks, residents in Birmingham, the United Kingdom's second-largest city, haven't had their rubbish collected. Bin workers are locked in an industrial dispute with the city council, and have been on strike since March 11. With household trash overflowing, locals — known colloquially as Brummies — have been dumping their waste anywhere they can.

Russian missiles have struck the Ukrainian city of Sumy as people gathered to celebrate Palm Sunday, killing more than 30 people. Two children are among the dead another 117-people have been wounded. Ukrainian authorities say the attack deliberately targetted civilians in what they say is a clear sign Moscow has commenced its spring offensive.

Wednesday's announcement in London comes just over four weeks after US President Donald Trump appeared unfamiliar with the trilateral defence pact while giving a press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the Oval Office.
