When Albion Online launches the Into the Depths update on June 30th, you had best believe that players will, in fact, be heading into the Depths. That’s kind of the title, but it also refers to the new Depths content that traps players in a dungeon filled with enemy-laden rooms. Players will have to survive enemies and a shrinking field of engagement while deciding whether to press on for greater rewards or head out with the loot they’ve already collected.

So after a week of Final Fantasy XIV’s latest field exploration area, I have to say that I’m… not really sure if this is, in fact, it, chief. Not because I think the Occult Crescent in and of itself is bad or anything, but more because I don’t think that it addresses a lot of the problems that these maps have had more or less throughout their existence. Usually, when an MMORPG adds a new challenge, it also adds rewards to go along with it. Eterspire has decided to buck that tradition with the addition of the new Bastion Challenge that has arrived with the most recent patch. That’s not to say there will not be rewards, but at this poin,t we don’t know what they will be. New armor?

It’s easy to think that individual luck isn’t really a thing. We are not followed around by an invisible “luck cloud” that determines whether or not good things happen to us on a given day, or at least there is no science to support this. But I think we all have a sense of whether we’re lucky or unlucky, and a combination of many factors make us think that either a 10% drop is something you’ll have no trouble getting or it’s a dream that will never arrive no matter how many shots you get.

Calvin Has A Stupid Face: Mary doesn’t like this one because she thinks it’s insulting to people named Calvin and no matter how many times I bring up Better Than Ezra she won’t concede the point. The Botswana Solution: Sounds kinda offensive to people in Botswana. Angular Mirrors: It seemed like a neat name but then eventually we noted that technically any mirror is an angular mirror so I guess optics has screwed me yet again. Mary Has A Nice Face: Shut up Calvin she’s still not interested.
