What is already known Significant others of patients with severe burn injury are not prepared for this sudden traumatic event. They face fears for their loved one's survival, experiences of pain, disfigurement and disability. They have increased risk of psychological sequalae such as PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. What this paper adds An insight into the experiences of significant others at different stages of the trajectory.
