PTC Therapeutics says it’s planning, this December, to ask the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to approve its oral therapy vatiquinone — which has been tested in pediatric patients as well as adults — as a treatment for Friedreich’s ataxia (FA). “We look forward to submitting the NDA [new drug application] by the end of the year,” Matthew B. In Trinity County, we are no strangers to emergency events. We know there’s always the possibility we’ll either need to evacuate or shelter at home, maybe without power. With the threat of emergencies looming, being prepared is vital. It’s also easy and can be done in three simple steps: Building a kit, making a plan and staying informed.
