    NEW HAVEN, CT —From Oct. 1. 2024 until March 31, 2025, some 2,501,376 nips bottles were sold in New Haven. Which translates to $125,068.80 for the city, 5 cents for each nip sold within its borders. The Nickel per Nip Environmental Fee program, which kicked off in 2021, was designed to help cities and towns provide for the collection and proper disposal of nips to combat littering.

    BRANFORD, CT — Spring leaf collection and yard-waste pickup is underway in Branford. Leaves must be placed in brown paper leaf bags and placed to the curb on your collection day, only on the designated weeks. Yard waste must be scheduled for pickup. Yard waste days are the second and fourth Friday of each month, April through November. Meanwhile, brush chipping has begun at the Transfer Station. This process is expected to take about one week to complete.
