A Sayre man who admitted to drugging and raping 17 women over a period of years will spend the rest of his life in prison following his sentencing June 19. Bradford County Judge Evan Williams III sentenced Sean Robert Hall, 45, to a minimum of 98 years and eight months in state prison and a maximum of 206 years following his guilty plea earlier this year to 21 sex crime- and drug-related felonies.

Area residents will have a chance Tuesday to learn more about a proposed 8-mile paved pedestrian and bicycle trail that would connect two major existing trails in the Elmira area. The Elmira Chemung Transportation Council will hold a public information meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the proposed link between the Lackawanna Rail Trail in the City of Elmira and the Catharine Valley Trail at Huck Finn Road in the Town of Veteran.

A Pennsylvania man has been charged in a murder-for-hire scheme involving a subject in Bradford County. Pennsylvania State Police say Matthew Bullock, 25, of Meshoppen, met with a member of the state police from the Towanda barracks on June 12 and solicited that person to kill an individual known to Bullock. State police did not indicate who the intended target was or why Bullock wanted that person dead. After the meeting, state police took Bullock into custody without incident.

Law enforcement can be a costly business, which is why the state Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) wants local officials to know they have a supportive partner in Albany. Representatives from the division, including Executive Deputy Commissioner Joseph Popcun, came to Elmira on May 27 to meet with Chemung County District Attorney Weeden Wetmore and several local law enforcement leaders.

A Tioga County man faces several felony charges after a pickup truck crashed into a Town of Chemung home May 27, injuring two occupants. Around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, state troopers from the Horseheads barracks responded to a report of a motor vehicle slamming into a residence at 959 Dry Brook Road. A preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Toyota Tundra, operated by 43-year-old Terry Lynn Murray, of Lockwood, had been involved in a pursuit initiated by the Sayre Borough Police Department.
