Law enforcement can be a costly business, which is why the state Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) wants local officials to know they have a supportive partner in Albany. A Tioga County man faces several felony charges after a pickup truck crashed into a Town of Chemung home May 27, injuring two occupants. Around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, state troopers from the Horseheads barracks responded to a report of a motor vehicle slamming into a residence at 959 Dry Brook Road. A preliminary investigation revealed a 2014 Toyota Tundra, operated by 43-year-old Terry Lynn Murray, of Lockwood, had been involved in a pursuit initiated by the Sayre Borough Police Department.

More than 2-and-a-half years after hunters stumbled onto human remains in a wooded area near Elmira, those remains have been positively identified. The skeletal remains were found Nov. 9, 2022 in a wooded area off Bowby Road in the Town of Elmira, according to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, which said due to the condition of the remains, neither the age nor sex of the body could be determined, and there was no other identifying information available at the time.

A Bradford County man will spend 14 years in prison following his conviction on child pornography charges. Chief U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann sentenced Jay Holloway, 37, of Wyalusing, for distribution of child pornography after an investigation turned up hundreds of digital images and videos in his possession.

A teenage driver was killed in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday night in the Schuyler County Town of Cayuta. Around 9:30 p.m., state troopers responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a 2024 Ford Explorer on state Route 224, according to New York State Police at Horseheads. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Route 224 when it left the north side of the roadway while negotiating a curve, troopers said. The vehicle struck a tree, overturned, and became engulfed in flames.
