    A 3.3 magnitude earthquake was confirmed near Lerna, Illinois, late Monday night. The earthquake, confirmed by the United States Geological Survey, was reported in Coles County SSW of Lerna, Illinois which is close to Mattoon, Illinois.  According to reports from WCIA in Central Illinois, the earthquake was reported just before 11:45 p.m. WCIA said shaking was felt throughout the area, but the Coles-Moultrie County 911 CECOM has not received any reports of damage or calls for assistance.

    Burglars targeted the Southport Beer, Wine and Spirits in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood on Thursday morning. Just before 5:45 a.m., Chicago police said two people broke the window of the store in the 3200 block of North Southport Avenue and took merchandise before rushing off. The store owner told CBS News Chicago the burglars took over $3,000 in high-end liquor and cigarettes. Surveillance video from the scene shows one of the burglars getting out of a car and approaching the store.

    A fire broke out at Chicago Academy High School in Chicago's Dunning neighborhood early Thursday morning. Just after 1 a.m., the Chicago Police Department said firefighters responded to a fire on the third floor of the school, in the 3400 block of North Austin Avenue. Police confirmed no one was inside the school at the time of the fire. Video from the scene shows heavy smoke and flames pouring out of the roof of the school. Dozens of firefighters battled the fire overnight.

    Off-duty officer shoots man during domestic disturbance in Roseland, police say A man who was shot by an off-duty Chicago police officer during a domestic incident in the Roseland neighborhood has been charged, police said. The Chicago Police Department said Martese Hudson, 42, was charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and two misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault and domestic battery.

    A fire spread to two buildings in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood on Wednesday morning. The Chicago Fire Department confirmed the fire broke out at a residential building in the 600 block of North Saint Louis Avenue and spread to a second building. CFD said the flames were first seen on the rear porches of the building. The buildings were left charred with significant damage. Chicago fire officials said residents were displaced, but the number of residents was not immediately known.
