(WGHP) — We’re starting the day with mostly cloudy skies, but as the day rolls along, sky conditions will improve. Enjoy partly cloudy skies today with unusually warm temperatures, topping out in the lower 80s. The UV index today is 9 out of 11, so sunscreen is encouraged. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected overnight with lows in the lower 60s. A cold front will graze the northern mountains tomorrow, bringing scattered showers and a few thunderstorms to the forecast for Tuesday.

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Showers continue today, at least into the late afternoon. High temperatures will be much cooler than normal (average high: 70°), only making it to the mid-50s. The chance of rain is 80%, and total rainfall is expected between 1/4″ and 1/2″. Scattered clouds sweep across the Piedmont overnight, allowing lows to dip into the mid-40s by daybreak. Over the weekend, we will dry out and slowly warm up as high pressure slides toward the Appalachians.
