PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — There is a 40% chance of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms today, and we have a Level 1/Marginal Risk of a few storms producing warnings. The main threats will be from damaging winds and large hail. Thunderstorms are most likely in the mid-afternoon, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Highs will be in the mid-70s. Mostly cloudy skies are ahead for tonight with lows in the lower-60s. There is a 20% chance of isolated showers.

There are various Flood Watches in effect: until 8 a.m. for Alamance and Chatham Counties; until 8 p.m. for Alleghany, Ashe, Wilkes, and Yadkin Counties; and until 2 am for Caswell, Rockingham, Stokes, and Surry Counties. A low will push a warm front north of the Piedmont today, bringing highs to the mid-70s. The same low is going to sweep a cold front across the state, and we will have scattered showers and thunderstorms through the early evening.

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A Flood Watch is in effect until 8 am Tuesday. A potent area of low pressure will bring unsettled weather to the southeastern U.S. through the middle of the week. Showers are going to increase across the Piedmont this morning, and it will come in heavily at times. Highs stay cool, in the upper-60s. Showers and a few thunderstorms are expected overnight with lows in the mid-60s. The chance of rain is 100% and we may have 1″ to 1.5″ by tomorrow morning.

A cold front will sweep across the Carolinas through the day. Skies are beginning to clear from west to east, and we will be able to enjoy sunnier conditions through lunchtime. This afternoon, skies are expected to be partly cloudy with a 20% chance of stray showers or thunderstorms in the southern Piedmont. Highs will rise to the mid-70s. The UV index today is going to be an 8 out of 11. Mostly clear skies are ahead for tonight, though there will be some thin clouds developing around daybreak.

There is a Level 1/Marginal Risk of severe weather today for Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, central/southern Davidson, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, and Rockingham Counties. A complex pattern of fronts will be bringing a risk of severe weather to North Carolina late today.
