MILILANI, Hawaii (KHON2) — Oahu experienced its 22nd traffic fatality on Friday, April 12 in an early morning crash in the Mililani area. The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Kamehameha Highway just before the Kipapa Gulch Bridge. According to the Honolulu Police Department, a 33-year-old and his juvenile passenger were speeding down Kamehameha Highway.

HONOLULU (KHON2) — According to the Department of Health, the Oahu child who contracted measles has made a full recovery. The child was the first case reported on Oahu in 2025 and officials said the child’s family member also experienced similar symptoms. The family member is considered a measles case, but it has not been confirmed due to the Hawaii resident traveling out of state. State officials said the child was unvaccinated, but they are unable to confirm the vaccination status of the adult.

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Stroke is the third most common cause of death in Hawaii and is the leading cause of disability in our state. The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Trust gifted nearly $7 million to help first responders, hospitals and care providers save more lives and improve recovery after a stroke. The $6.8 million grant hopes to combat those numbers in “Mission Life Stroke,” led by the American Heart Association.
