HAIKU, Hawaii (KHON2) — Eddie the pig was adopted by Sarah Haynes a few years ago. She adopted him from a local pig rescue after he was found running around Kihei with scars and rope burns. They believed he was used for hunting dog training. “I adopted him and built a big enclosure and a house and a pool and all sorts of stuff,” Haynes, who has a pet sanctuary on her nine acre lot in Haiku, said.

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A ceremony was held in Waiʻanae, renaming the District Park Boxing Gym in honor of Fred Fernandez Pereira, Sr., also known as “Pops.”The ceremony was held on Pops’ 91st birthday, intended to permanently enshrine his legacy onto the boxing gym. KAU, Hawaii (KHON2) – A multi-agency search is underway for a missing fisherman off Hawaii Island. Authorities say 42-year-old Earl Kekuanaoa Hind was last seen on his boat Wednesday afternoon. As of April 11, the U.S. Coast Guard, DLNR and Hawaii Fire Department were all searching for the avid fisherman. “He left to go fishing Monday night off South Point,” his older brother Manu Hind said.

Mayor Blangiardi announced that the City intends to purchase the land after years of back and forth with one of the landowners. Since 2023, North Shore residents have been advocating for a first responder hub instead of a commercial retail hub.

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A Waikiki woman who died one month ago had one final wish, for someone to take care of her cat, Rusty. Over the weekend, KHON2 received multiple calls saying Rusty was alone inside an apartment near Diamond Head. “She went to Kaiser hospital, she knocked on my door, and asked me to take care of her cat,” said her neighbor Djuro Joksimovic. He said she figured she would be home in a few days, but she never returned home.
