HONOLULU (KHON2) — Roadwork near the University of Hawaii at Mānoa campus begins on June 2, and people heading to campus in the fall will see quite a few changes including a driving lane reduction, new bike lanes and more crosswalks. The City and County of Honolulu’s Complete Streets will begin improvements on Dole Street from St. Louis Drive and Lower Campus Road. Over the winter break, crews laid down the new pavement in the area.

VOLCANO, Hawaii (KHON2) — Kīlauea could put on another spectacular show in the coming days. On May 25, episode 23 left witnesses in awe as lava fountains reached 1,150 feet, which is the highest fountaining since the eruption began in December 2024. “As soon as episode 23 ended, the activity we saw on the surface stopped but immediately pressure started building up again underneath the ground,” explained Dr. David Phillips, USGS Hawaiian Volcano observatory deputy scientist in charge.

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Several Mapunapuna businesses are breathing a sigh of relief after the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided a warehouse on Kilihau Street on May 29. The businesses said the warehouse was a hub for illegal activity for years, and the state had been trying to evict the tenant for months. The FBI, Honolulu Police, Humane Society and other agencies were all seen outside the warehouse early on the morning of May 29, prompting road closures in the area.
