    A Greater Napanee man is facing impaired driving charges after police say he was caught pouring alcohol into a cup in a business parking lot. Lennox and Addington OPP were called to the scene on Wednesday, June 18, just before 5 p.m., after a concerned citizen reported suspicious behaviour. Officers found the vehicle and arrested the driver on site. At the detachment, breath tests revealed the driver’s blood alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit.

    Our local wine industry just got a big boost with the addition of 24 new grape varieties to the Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) certified list. The provincial government made the announcement on June 17, saying the new grapes were chosen for their ability to produce high-quality wine, survive changing climates, and require fewer fertilizers and pesticides.

    As we previously reported, Changes are coming to recycling pickup in Loyalist Township and Stone Mills Township on July 1, 2025, and in Greater Napanee on January 1, 2026. Now, residents of Prince Edward County are being reminded that major changes are coming to the blue box recycling program starting Thursday, July 17. As part of Ontario’s new extended producer responsibility (EPR) model, producers will now take full control of recycling, including paying all costs.
