Three local authorities failed to resurface any of their roads in 2023/24, new figures have shown. Just 3% of England’s local road network received any form of maintenance in 2023/24 - with three local councils failing to resurface any of their roads last year, new figures have revealed. Blackpool Unitary Authority and Tameside Council in the north west, along with the Tory-run London borough of Bexley, did not resurface or maintain a single mile of road last year, according to RAC data.
