    IOLA – The Village of Iola board president seat was contested for the spring election with incumbent Jennifer Schustek coming out on top April 1. The numbers came in at 279 votes for Schustek and 207 votes for challenger Mike Richberg. Schustek was first elected as board president in 2021, which was the only seat open at the time.

    IOLA – The music ordinance in the Village of Iola was created and approved in May 2023 to outline policy for outdoor and music entertainment within the village limits. Recent complaints may be sending the ordinance back to village officials. In a March 25 working committee meeting at village hall, Jennifer Schustek, the Village of Iola board president, said that with new complaints coming in about outdoor entertainment, the board will need to address the issue.
