MARIE, Mich. – Senior setter Emily Kalinowski (South Lyon, Mich.) has been named the GLIAC Setter of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Kalinowski notched over 100 assists over two games, making her the fourth Laker to ever record 1,000 assists in a single season in program history.

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) volleyball team (8-21, 5-13 GLIAC) came away with a thrilling five-set win over the Michigan Tech Huskies (13-15, 9-8 GLIAC) to play their way into the GLIAC tournament. The Huskies came out swinging, jumping out to a 5-2 lead in the opening set, but the Lakers fought back with runs of 5-1 and 4-1 behind multiple kills from senior Emilee McDaniel (Manistique, Mich.).

Both teams battled early in the opening set, but the Lakers were able to pull ahead with a 5-0 run that featured a kill from freshman Rachel Steele (Eaton Rapids, Mich.).

Both teams battled early in the opening set on their way to a 7-7 stalemate, but the Lakers would put their foot on the gas with a pair of 5-0 scoring runs behind multiple kills from Mariana Velasque (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).

Mariana Velasque (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) continues to lead the GLIAC in kills with 197, and setter Emily Kalinowski (South Lyon, Mich.) has been leading the conference in assists against league opponents.

MARIE, Mich. - Senior Setter Emily Kalinowski (South Lyon, Mich.) has been named the GLIAC Volleyball Setter of the Week for the second week in a row, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Kalinowski came within one assist of tying her career-high, which was set a week prior, with 57 assists in the Lakers' Saturday win at Wayne State, pushing her to 91 assists for the week. Kalinowsi now owns the top two assist marks by any GLIAC player so far this season.

HAMMOND, Ind. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) volleyball team (1-8, 0-1 GLIAC) fell in their GLIAC opener on the road to the Purdue Northwest Pride (6-3, 1-0 GLIAC) on Thursday. The Pride struck quickly in the first set, but the Lakers fought back with a 5-1 run to trim down the deficit. However, the Pride would press on to take the opening set.

ROLLA, Mo. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) volleyball program (1-7) picked up their first win of the season as they split a pair of matches in the final day of the Missouri S&T tournament on Saturday, defeating the Union (Tenn.) bulldogs (1-6) in straight sets before falling to the Kentucky Wesleyan (KWC) Wildcats (1-6) by a score of 3-1.

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Lake Superior State senior setter Emily Kalinowski (South Lyon, Mich.) has been named to the U.P. Open All-Tournament Team, as voted on by the coaches. Kalinowski had a strong outing in her four games at the tournament, notching 117 assists on the weekend to push her past 1500 assists for her Laker career. She would also record 36 digs at the tournament on the defensive end, including a 33-assist, 16-dig double-double in a four-set match against Minnesota-Crookston.
