But before the city’s report could be completed, Duke announced it, too, had hired consultants to complete a study of its own.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General James Uthmeier and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson voted Tuesday morning to greenlight the purchase of 340 acres of forest land in Hernando County for conservation. The seller: a luxury golf resort called Cabot Citrus that had a year ago received initial state approval to shrink that same forest by getting more than 300 acres of preserved public land to add to its property.
