The Fundraising Regulator has revealed plans to start collecting data from charities of all sizes for its annual complaints report (ACR). Until 2023, the regulator collected data from a small number of large charities and reported the types of fundraising complaints they had received as part two of the ACR. However, in response to a survey that received over 450 responses, the regulator announced plans to review how it collects data from the charities in 2023.

Healthcare think tank the King’s Fund has rebranded for the first time in 18 years and published a new five-year strategy, which aims to centre its staff. Speaking to Civil Society, chief executive Sarah Woolnough said that the strategy and brand mark a shift in direction for the organisation, which seeks to “really go back to our charitable purpose”.

The Charity Commission has banned a refugee charity’s trustee and voluntary chief executive over “divisive and inflammatory” social media posts that she made amid wider “governance failings” and concerns about potential conflicts of interest. The Palestinian Refugee Project is a UK-based charity which was registered in 2021 to provide support to the Palestinian diaspora living in refugee camps in Lebanon.

Research published this week has found that 140 million volunteering hours went unused by UK employees last year, despite 62% of businesses offering workplace volunteering schemes to their employees. The research, conducted by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr) and commissioned by the Royal Voluntary Service, claims that employee volunteering could unlock £32.5bn in productivity gains for the UK economy annually if workplace volunteering schemes were fully utilised.

Bond, the UK umbrella body for international development organisations, has reduced its staff headcount and moved offices as part of a restructure in order to “ensure long-term financial sustainability”. The body, which has over 350 organisational members, announced this week that it had not replaced some leavers, while also combining some roles and filling them internally.
