PORTLAND (WGME) – The Weather Prediction Center has updated its Winter Storm Severity Index map. Maine will see several impacts through Friday and Saturday. Along the coastline, there will be moderate winter storm impacts. Shifting inland, there will be widespread major impacts. Some hotspots are seeing extreme impacts for large amounts of heavy, wet snow. But what do each of these impacts mean? Minor winter storm impacts involve winter driving conditions. Use caution when hitting the road.

WINDHAM (WGME) –- Heavy, wet snow caused a lot of power outages in the Lakes Region Monday. The snow in that area stuck to the trees and power lines. CMP reports that more than 20,000 customers lost power in Maine Monday. From Windham to Bridgton, snow totals ranged from 3 inches all the way to 8 inches. The closer you got to Pleasant Mountain, which opens Friday, the more you had to shovel.

PORTLAND (WGME) -- In less than 12 hours, Maine will feel the impact of Lee. The storm, though expected to lose strength when it gets closer to Maine, will bring waves from 10 to 20 feet to our area. Lee will bring large waves to the coast throughout the day Saturday. Taking a look at the projected heights, the Gulf of Maine could see waves potentially up to 20 feet in some areas.
