But outside of reporting on the election, I also found myself telling various abortion stories, whether they were dives into obscure health policy or write-ups of the solutions organizers are using to protect abortion rights for the most disadvantaged Americans.

    A law that gives Congress and the president the power to nullify federal regulations will almost certainly be part of Donald Trump’s strategy to overturn policies set by the Biden administration. The Congressional Review Act (CRA) is a Newt Gingrich–era law passed in 1996 to empower congressional oversight of federal rulemaking. Crucially, the law contains provisions that allow it to speed through Congress, eliminating barriers like the Senate filibuster.

    Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s list of disqualifications for the role of secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is long and well documented. He is the founder of the anti-vaccine group Children’s Health Defense, vowed to remove fluoride from drinking water, and spewed race science, claiming that Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people are immune from COVID-19. But despite all of the above, RFK Jr. seems to appeal to many not just on the political right, but also on the left.
