Discover Halifax has updated a plan, first developed five years ago, called the Integrated Tourism Master Plan 2030. “Why are we calling it integrated? Because it’s not just a plan for an individual institution, it’s really a plan for the entire industry. The suppliers in the industry, everything from the airport to the convention business to the taxi service, it’s all related.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic is set to open the doors to a brand-new facility next week in Halifax. “The need for a new facility is to double the number of families we support and make sure they have a relaxing place to stay while their child is on medical journey,” says Lori Barker, Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic CEO. The new facility will welcome families starting April 29.

From church services to Easter egg hunts, many Maritimers are preparing for a busy long weekend. Easter Weekend is the holiest holiday on the Christian calendar. “The meaning of Easter is that the son of God came to bring us home and that is why he rose from the dead to gather us up so he might take us to our heavenly home,” says Father Gary Thorn with Saint George’s Round Church, which has had services since holy week began last Sunday.

Every Monday, Club Inclusion in Halifax runs a leaders in training program for their members. Club Inclusion provides day programming to adults and youth with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The program is in its fifth year and teaches essential leadership and employment skills to members and puts them into action right away.

An open house was held Sunday from 12:00pm until 4:00pm at the Chezzetcook Inlet Acadian Centre, which will open soon in West Chezzetcook, N.S.“We want the community to see that we are giving a second life to this centre, and we are bringing it back to the community so everyone can share it together,” says Rebecca Potvin, Executive Director of L’Acadie De Chezzetcook. The centre will be in the former St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic Church.
