    Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has expressed sadness over the death of highlife musician, folklorist and cultural icon, Mike Ejeagha, and urged the federal and Enugu State governments to immortalise him. Mike Ejeagha died on Friday at the 32 Garrison Hospital in Enugu after a long battle with prostate cancer at the age of 95. Born on April 4, 1930 in Imezi Owa, Ezeagu local government area of Enugu State, Ejeagha’s life was a remarkable odyssey of culture, wisdom and music.

    The Imo State government has debunked the misconception surrounding the allocation of 1,000 hectares of land to Zion Ministry at Mbaisii in Ngor-Okpala local government area.     The Mazi Organisation (TMO) has kicked against the recent poor Value Added Tax (VAT) ranking of Imo State, describing it as “unacceptable, embarrassing and revealing.”This followed the release of the Federation Account Allocation Committee’s (FAAC) Q1 2025 report. The state astonishingly generated a mere N2.34 billion in VAT revenue, placing 35th out of 36 states, ahead of Taraba State.
