1 Introduction Carbon dioxide ( CO 2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$ ) is a greenhouse gas (GHG) that is known to be a crucial contributor to global warming due to its high heat-trapping ability (Pachauri et al., 2014). The current global averaged CO 2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$ concentration in the atmosphere has increased by 47% since pre-industrial levels (WMO, 2019, 2020).
