For 25 years, Nordmann’s Nook has been the place for fresh baked goods, furniture, and other miscellaneous items, and owners David and Colleena Jimenez are ready to celebrate. Along for the celebration will be original owners, David and Louise Nordmann. “We want to do it because it’s a small town and it’s been a familyrun business since David and Louise Nordmann created it as just furniture – they started it from nothing and it’s grown,” Colleena Jimenez said.

According to sources, pending school board approval, Manchester head basketball coach Eli Henson will be named the new head coach at Tippecanoe Valley High School, pending school board approval. Henson just completed a dream season at Manchester by guiding the Squires the Class 2A state championship March 29. Henson’s grandfather, Floyd, was the first boys basketball coach when the school opened in 1974, and his father, Dave, is a 1968 graduate of Akron High School.

Holderman Park is getting a facelift. The veterans memorial on North Market Street, which hosts the annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day services, and sits as a reminder to those who sacrificed for our freedom every day. North Manchester American Legion Auxiliary Unit 286 President Gee Gee Tharp is spearheading the project with the hopes of raising $25,000. If the Auxiliary reaches the goal by June 14, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority will match those funds.

Xavier Harting is reaching a goal that not all Scouts achieve – completing their Eagle project and earning the rank of Eagle. Harting also has a soft spot for dogs and chose to focus his Eagle Scout project on the new dog park in North Manchester for his project. “I’m working on the project for the town,” Harting said. “We are adding agility equipment to the new dog park on SR 13 next to the baseball fields by the highway (SR 13).

More than 100 Wabash County citizens gathered in front of the courthouse this afternoon for a “Hands Off !” protest against President Donald Trump administration policies, Saturday, April 5. The rally was one more more than 1,000 around the United States. The local event was organized by Wabash County Democratic Party Chair Tammy Ingalls.
