“There’s something pretty special about being accepted by a kid like Evie.”Evie, 6, is the daughter of Micah and Molly Magnus, and lives with Cerebral Palsy, Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, Cortical Visual Impairment with astigmatism, and seizures. She loves music, outdoors, stories, going to school. She, with the help of her parents and My Team Triumph, has already competed in several half marathons and triathlons. She also needs some help.

Carolyn Stanger has a love for dogs and she puts her money where her dog’s nose is,Stanger works with the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW), an organization that brings the concept of detection dog style training to dog owners and their companion dogs. The organization was developed in 2006 by Ron Gaunt, Amy Herot, and Jill Marie O’Brien, in California.

Changes are coming to the City of Wabash’s Historic Preservation Commission. The Wabash City Council unanimously approved an amendment related to the enforcement of the city’s historic preservation ordinance when it met on June 9. “The impetus for this is a streamlining, so to speak,” Mayor Scott Long told the Council. “Actually, we’re having problems getting the Historic Preservation Commission to have a quorum during its meetings which has resulted in some delays of construction.

For the second consecutive year, a group of area residents organized a walk and vigil to raise awareness about gun violence. Those participating wore orange and walked the North Manchester Downtown sidewalks before gathering at the town parking lot on Main and Market Streets for a vigil for those killed by gun violence.
