    For 50 years, Sycamore Preschool has been teaching young children of North Manchester not just the basic introductory lessons like counting and their A-B-Cs, but have taught spiritual and Bible lessons as part of their curriculum. As the school, originally started as Sycamore Nursery School, was in the planning stages, Nancy Betten had her doubters. “Nancy wanted to start a preschool,” current board member Elsie Duffy said.

    The Wabash County YMCA will begin offering child care at the current Bowen Health building on North Miami Street likely beginning sometime in 2026. The Wabash County Board of Zoning Appeals granted a special exception to the YMCA to open the child care facility when it met May 15. The special exception is needed because the site is in an area zoned residential. Bowen Health is currently building a facility off of Bryan Avenue.
