    The Houston Astros have done well to tread water so far this season. The pitching staff has been great, but the offense has struggled to live up to the standards that previous Astros lineups from recent years have set. A big part of the issue is that Yordan Alvarez hasn't been himself and the news from Monday isn't going to help that goal. Through 121 plate appearances this season, Alvarez sports just a .210/.306/.340 which is well below what fans expect to see out of him.

    Lance McCullers Jr. checked a lot of boxes for the Houston Astros in his first MLB start since 2022. After numerous injuries and setbacks, McCullers was finally back on the bump for the Astros on Sunday. McCullers didn't give up an earned run, struck out roughly one batter per inning, and his stuff looked good. Obviously going a little deeper in the game would've been better, but throwing 87 pitches in his first action after two-plus years on the IL was more than enough.

    Most Houston Astros fans have heard by now that Lance McCullers Jr. is scheduled to make his first start of 2025 on Sunday. It'll his first appearance in the big leagues since 2022. It's been a long road back for McCullers and fans are excited to see what he's capable of after all this time. McCullers' showing on Sunday could greatly affect Houston's rotation plans for the month of May. Obviously the Astros could use a healthy and effective McCullers back in their rotation.

    Boston Red Sox fans are still reeling from the news that Triston Casas is likely out for the season. After rupturing his patellar tendon on a play at first while trying to beat out a ground ball, the Red Sox's plans for first base have been turned on their heads. As for their matchup Saturday against the Twins, the weather has created it's own disruption up in Boston. Rain is causing havoc across the league on Saturday as the eastern half of the US is being blanketed by storms all over the place.

    The Boston Red Sox have been hanging around the top of the AL East standings all year long thanks to having an genuinely deep roster. They are famously loaded with infielders without enough playing time to make everyone happy, but the one constant in all of their plans is Triston Casas at first base. While Casas is off to a rough start to the 2025 season, there is no denying his talent and when he is right, he is one of the more exciting young power hitters in baseball.
