Jasson Dominguez is going to face a higher threshold for shaking off the "overhyped" tag than any other New York Yankees prospect - and that's saying something, considering the world loves to nitpick all of them. Dominguez's path to league-wide respect and overcoming eyerolls might be tougher than anyone else's, honestly. He was anointed the next Mickey Mantle before he ever appeared in a professional game, and The Martian came shortly after.

A big weekend culminated in a special start to the week for New York Yankees top prospect George Lombard Jr. The Yankees' No. 1 name down on the farm was elevated to Double-A Somerset after hitting .329 with Hudson Valley. Minor League Baseball is the greatest. The outlandish promotions. The intimate stadiums. The small, but remarkably enthusiastic crowds. The bucket hats. The rain. It's always the rain. This is a statistically unprovable assertion, but it certainly feels as if no team has been forced to play through active rain storms over the past decade more often than the New York Yankees. Certainly no team has been as adversely affected by it. No Yankees opponent seems to have as much trouble with the mud on the mound. No Yankees opponent seems to struggle with the basic tenets of their grip.

Trash New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe all you want. Complain about how he isn't Corey Seager. Cite his first two roller coaster seasons and ignore his third one. Bottom line? If you hate Volpe, you're going to really hate his current backups. The third-year Yankees shortstop has his faults, and we've made our opinion on them patently clear. Still, he's made himself completely indispensible, based on the current roster construction.
