    The Wenatchee AppleSox begin a weekend series in Edmonton against the RiverHawks tonight…Wenatchee has an 11-and-4 record and is coming off a non-league split with the DubSea Fish Sticks. Edmonton is fresh off a 1-and-2 series against Bellingham. Tonight’s game gets underway at 7:05 and you can hear it locally on Sunny FM. The Bells won the final game of its series in Edmonton last night 7-0. Three Bellingham pitchers combined on the 8-hit shutout.

    High-flying jumps and extreme motocross action is combined with 4-wheel racing Saturday at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval…It’s the Freestyle Motocross and Port-A-Potty 100 tomorrow. Besides the Freestyle Motocross, racing will include the Jerry’s Auto Supply Pro Late Models; Dick’s Heating and Air Conditioning Thunder Cars; Knutson General Contracting Bandoleros; and Zero Handicap Mini Bombers.     As the Mariners begin a 14-game road trip today in Chicago, they’ve made some moves on the roster…Rowdy Tellez has been designated for assignment to make room on the roster for Luke Raley. Raley’s been out since mid-April with an oblique strain and was expected to rejoin the roster this weekend. With Raley returning, it left the Mariners with three first baseman. Donavan Solano has been hitting better than Tellez lately, so the move was made.

    DubSea’s Matt Churchill smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Fish Sticks up 3-nothing and the visitors never looked back in a 5-3 win over the AppleSox last night…Wenatchee coach Mitch Darlington used 9-pitchers in the game and even some position players on the mound in the non-league contest. Christian Garcia got the start and surrendered the 3-runs to take the loss. DubSea increased its lead to 4-0 in the second on Michael Aikawa’s RBI-double.

    Louis Castillo gave up two home runs yesterday, and that was the difference in Boston’s 3-1 victory…The first homer came in the second off the bat of Marcelo Mayer. Seattle came back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning on a wild pitch. The Red Sox countered with a 2-run shot by Trevor Story in the 4th for the game’s final runs as Boston won the series 2-1. Randy Arozarena was 1-for-3 with Seattle’s only run. Cal Raleigh was 1-for-4 with a double.
