    Upper Room Dining Hall has a new way to serve El Dorado County residents living in poverty and those with food insecurity. Bearing the name "Kit", which translates to either the word "hope" or "Christ bearer," the nonprofit's new food truck is ready to roll out and serve more individuals of the West Slope of El Dorado County. Kit was officially presented to the community at Green Valley Community Church last week.

    El Dorado County staff are planning to demolish the property of the former Taco Bell in Pollock Pines, officials confirmed. A request for the warrant to abate the property must be made; once staff have the warrant in hand, a sign with the intention to abate the property will be posted on the building for 24 hours, according to Communications Director Carla Hass. Then it is a matter of having a contractor to schedule the work. The Taco Bell closed in 2018.

    Costco has submitted its new plan for a warehouse store on Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills, with notable changes to the project known as EDH 52. This past summer Costco purchased the property for more than $8 million, nearly five years after a proposal to build the warehouse store was included in a master plan that also included retail and multi-residential projects on the site south of the Serrano community and near Oak Meadow Elementary School.

    It was a morning of grieving and remembrance at the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors' chambers on Friday as family members, county employees and numerous peers packed the room to pay their respects to John Hidahl. Hidahl, who suddenly died in his home on Nov. 2, was wrapping up his term as the District 1 county supervisor and threw his hat in the recent election to obtain a seat on the EDH Fire Board once again.

    El Dorado County will look for another Information Technology director after dismissing Tonya Digiorno from her post Friday afternoon. County officials gave no reason for Digiorno's release as it's policy not to comment on personnel matters, according to spokeswoman Carla Hass. The county Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to dismiss Digiorno, who was hired in December 2019, in closed session during a special meeting Nov. 15.
