Welcome to Waiver Wire Watch, where I review my favorite waiver wire adds and drops for each week of the MLB season. The premise is pretty straightforward. I’ll try to give you some recommended adds each week based on recent production or role changes. When I list a player, I’ll list the category where I think he’ll be helpful or the quick reason he’s listed. I hope it will help you determine if the player is a fit for what your team needs.

With most teams having played a least 60 games this season, we’re now more than one-third of the way through the MLB season. That means you have a good idea which of your teams will be competitive and which you’ll have to fight to keep alive. You have a good understanding of which of your early-season moves paid off and which seemed to be missteps. That means it’s the perfect time to take stock of things we’ve learned.

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for us to visit the bump on Hump Day and discuss starting pitcher news. Each week in this article, I’ll be taking a deeper look at a few trending/surging starting pitchers to see what, if anything, is changing and whether or not we should be investing in this hot stretch.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the defending World Series champions and current odds-on favorites to hoist the trophy again in 2025. They added two of the most high-profile pitching free agents this offseason when they signed Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki. Yet, for all of their big names and having the second-best record in the National League, the pitcher that has emerged as a key cog in this potential title run is rookie reliever Ben Casparius. Now, Casparius isn’t a reliever by trade.

Interesting find here. Perhaps Boston and Andrew Bailey are moving away from being so secondary-heavy. West coast road trip next week @enosarris if you can figure it out

Tonight Walker Buehler threw 54% 4s/sinker which was his highest usage of the season (previous high was 44%). Last night Lucas Giolito threw 56% 4s/sinker which was his most since 5/6. Change in philosophy or specific game plan vs. Tampa? Something to watch next time they start.

Again, asking teams if you can speak to their coach does not mean you don’t have a plan. It’s means you checking all possible boxes. We gotta stop making declarative statements on TV if we don’t have direct knowledge of a situation

That’s probably an All Star break return for Jobe next season. Brutal beat

Jackson Jobe will undergo Tommy John surgery, according to the #Tigers. He will miss the remainder of the 2025 season.
