A little over 21,000 Pacific Gas & Electric Company customers lost power Thursday morning in Nevada County.According to the outage map, 21,053 customers lost power at 3:28 a.m. in an area including Nevada City and Grass Valley. That number was down to 17,895 as of 6:16 a.m. It was unclear what caused the outage. A person died and three others were injured in a head-on car crash Wednesday morning in Modesto, the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District said. The California Highway Patrol was dispatched around 5:48 a.m. to Mitchell Road and Tenaya Drive near the Modesto City–County Airport, CHP logs show. Two vehicles were involved. The first car was occupied by three people and two dogs, Stanislaus Fire said. One person died and two sustained major injuries.

A water rescue operation is underway Tuesday afternoon in Rancho Cordova, officials said. First responders were dispatched around 12:07 p.m. to a section of the American River between the Rossmoor Bar and Ancil Hoffman Park. A person was found in the water who appeared to be deceased, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said. This is breaking news. Check back with KCRA 3 for updates.
