Sentencing will happen Friday for the man who ambushed and murdered Sacramento Police Department Officer Tara O'Sullivan. Adel Ramos opened fire at O'Sullivan on June 19, 2019, while she and four other officers were handling a domestic violence situation along Redwood Avenue in the north Sacramento area. After O'Sullivan was shot, Ramos kept other officers from pulling O'Sullivan to safety by continuing to fire at them. It took nearly an hour before they were able to retrieve her.

Friday's temperatures will inch closer to 100 degrees in Northern California, but an even hotter day is expected this weekend. Meteorologist Ophelia Young said Friday's forecast high for downtown Sacramento is 98 degrees. The average for this time of year is 90 degrees. Saturday will feel even hotter as it is likely to reach 100 degrees. If it does, Young said that would make it the third triple-digit day of the year so far. The last two days were May 30 and 31.

Deputies responded to the property in the 17000 block of Greenhorn Road in Grass Valley on Monday to conduct a welfare check. The property has more than one home and multiple inhabitants. The investigation ultimately led to the arrest of 48-year-old Felix Luis Gonzalez Cruz.

A bear was euthanized after it attacked a woman in her trailer at a Lake Tahoe campground, following a string of other attempted break-ins, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The bear's two 5-month-old cubs were taken to a Northern California rescue. The wildlife agency on Tuesday said the bear had a history of causing issues in human-occupied areas and was unresponsive to multiple attempts to haze it out of the area.
