SENECA — What a difference a month has made for the Seneca High School girls’ soccer team. And taking stock on an even larger scale, what a reversal of fortunes it’s been for the Bobcats’ program this season.

SENECA — Seneca High School didn’t have to look far to find a new leader for its competition cheer team. The school has announced Bentli Massey as the Bobcats’ new head coach, as she succeeds Blair Harris, who recently stepped down from the position. Massey, a kindergarten teacher at Fair-Oak Elementary School in Westminster, steps into the head role after serving as an assistant coach for the Bobcats the past two years in addition to serving as the cheer coach for Seneca Middle School.

With so many players sidelined due to injuries, the labeling of the Clemson football team’s “spring game” today at Memorial Stadium might be a bit of a misnomer. Still, head coach Dabo Swinney is hopeful the atmosphere will be game-like when the action gets underway at 1 p.m. The odds may be heightened given there could be more fans in the stands since there will be no live TV broadcast or video streaming of the free event. “That’s honestly kind of what I’m hoping,” Swinney said last week.

A Clemson spokesman confirmed that forwards Asa Thomas and Chauncey Wiggins, along with guard Del Jones, entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday — the opening day of a 30-day window basketball players can use to switch schools.

Quick public shoutout — great to catch up with both @brodeyconn03 and @batt_griffin of @dwdanielFB and @ClemsonFB fame tonight after they umpired my son's 8-U baseball game tonight in Clemson. Didn't help our boys' bats tonight, but it was still a pleasure.
