Another round of thunderstorms likely Thursday as muggy air returns

WeatherAny storm could turn strong or severe during the afternoon. The region enjoyed a break between weather systems on Wednesday, with drier air and sunshine dominating throughout the day. While Wednesday was also a noticeably cooler day, warm and muggy air is set to return Thursday. At the same time, a weather system will approach the Valley from the west, resulting in an increasing chance for showers and storms by the first part of the afternoon.

WeatherIt will be noticeably cooler and less humid Wednesday. The cold front that triggered thunderstorms across the lower Great Lakes region Tuesday afternoon and evening will be well east of the area by daybreak Wednesday, and the day will start on a much cooler note. Wednesday afternoon looks mostly sunny and pleasant with temperatures in the lower and middle 60s. Active weather is set to return for the first few days of May.

It will be a little on the chilly side early on with temperatures in the 30s in most locations...but the afternoon will be about 10 degrees warmer than Sunday.

WeatherSunday will be much better with abundant sunshine. A big weather change is on the way as the final weekend of April gets underway. Rounds of rain and thunder Friday evening will taper to spotty showers overnight and into Saturday morning as colder air continues to push east. Air temperatures will slide into the lower 50s around daybreak Saturday and readings will rise very little throughout the day. Clouds should dominate for much of the day, but there might be some clearing close to sunset.

WeatherSunday looks like the better half of the upcoming weekend. After a few beautiful days in a row, Friday will be a different day weatherwise. A warm front will lift northward Friday morning, resulting in a good chance for a scattering of rain showers through midday. The afternoon is likely to be less active, but a passing shower or two will remain a possibility. We think rain chances will ramp up again toward evening as a potent cold front slides east across the state of Ohio.

Highs will be more typical of early June on Thursday, ahead of a weather system that will bring some significant changes late this week and at the start of the weekend.

The cold front that produced some gusty showers and thunderstorms Monday afternoon will be well east of the area as Tuesday gets underway. While Tuesday will not be as warm as some of the previous days, it will still be a seasonable afternoon with plenty of sunshine. A mainly clear sky will allow temperatures to cool into the 30s in some locations Tuesday night.

WeatherSaturday won't be a washout, but showers can move through at any time. The very warm weather the area enjoyed on Friday will not continue into the weekend, although it will not exactly be cold, either. An approaching cool front will lead to a few rounds of showers on Saturday; a thunderstorm will also be a possibility. Temperatures will fall from around 70 at midday into the mid 50s by early evening. Much like Friday, the breeze will be noticeable throughout the day.

Temperatures reached the 70s Monday, but Tuesday was windy and much colder. Wednesday? Still quite chilly, but without the strong winds that buffeted the Valley Tuesday. After some overnight rain and wet snow showers, we expect clouds to thin during the afternoon Wednesday. This will set the stage for a clear and cold night with frost and readings in the 20s. Despite the cold start to Thursday, a nice afternoon will unfold with a good deal of sun and more seasonable readings.

Temperatures soared into the 70s on Monday despite clouds winning out over the sunshine for much of the afternoon. However, the passage of a cold front late in the day sealed Tuesday's fate as a sharply colder day with readings at least 30 degrees colder than the first day of the work week. The much colder air will be accompanied by a strengthening wind and showers, especially during the afternoon.
