SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio officials will hold a press conference ahead of planned protests against nationwide U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detentions. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus and City Manager Erik Walsh will “share the City’s plan to support peaceful demonstrations while ensuring public safety,” according to a news release. The press conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday at City Hall, located at 100 Military Plaza.

SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales will not run for reelection, he told staff during a meeting on Thursday, sources told KSAT. He is expected to hold a news conference at 4:15 p.m., according to a news release. Sources were briefed on the matter at an all-staff meeting at 3:30 p.m. but were not authorized to speak on the record. Gonzales was elected to the county’s top prosecutor role in 2018, beating incumbent Nico LaHood.

SAN ANTONIO – A man accused of killing “King Of The Hill” voice actor Jonathan Joss was released from the Bexar County jail on Wednesday. Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 56, posted bail on a $200,000 bond on Tuesday but walked out of the jail at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Johnny Garcia. His release was delayed because he needed a GPS fitted.

Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 56, posted bail on a $200,000 bond on Tuesday but has not been released as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, records with the Bexar County jail show. His bond conditions include full house arrest, random drug testing and no possession of firearms.
