SAN ANTONIO – As the demolition of the former Institute of Texan Cultures building continues, the Conservation Society of San Antonio filed an appeal on Wednesday against the district court’s decision to block the University of Texas at San Antonio and the City of San Antonio from being sued, according to a press release. The Conservation Society filed a lawsuit on April 2 against UTSA and the city.

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for his involvement with a gun theft and trafficking conspiracy ring, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Alcapone Maximus Pena, 23, between January and October 2023, is alleged to have been involved in the theft of firearms and vehicles in and around the San Antonio area. Pena also dealt with the sale of the stolen firearms, according to a DOJ news release.

The incident happened Tuesday just before 8 p.m. inside the Cinemark Summit 16 theater in the 5000 block of Northwest Loop 410. According to police, the man was in a snack bar line with the weapon in his pants when it went off and grazed him in the leg.
