CAMP LEJEUNE, Onslow County — Ten units from the Fire Department and Forestry Service at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune are using plows and brush trucks to widen fire breaks in order to control a slow-moving wildfire in the northwestern part of the base’s Greater Sandy Run Training Area along Hwy 50. The fire started at 2 p.m. on Monday near SR9, which is a training area usually used for fire and maneuver exercises, as well as machine gun training.
