    CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. – We're following a developing story out of Craven County. A traffic crash is causing significant delays in the Stately Pines area on Monday, May 5, 2025. Our crew on the scene says there is a a heavy backup of vehicles and emergency personnel responding to the incident. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation's DriveNC.gov traffic tracking system, congestion is currently stretching from Carolina Pines Boulevard all the way to Pine Grove Road.

    SWANSBORO, Onslow County — The ferry service to Bear Island from Hammocks Beach State Park will start on May 14, 2025, as announced by the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. It was paused since April 2024 for a major construction project. The ferry will operate hourly from May 14 to May 18, with no service on May 19 and 20. It will resume hourly service on May 21 and 22, then run every 30 minutes from May 23 until Memorial Day.
