Ahh, Eilat. A respite from the worries of everyday wartime life, a release from Jerusalem’s sometimes confining strictures. I looked forward to this little vacay for weeks, thinking some adult time in the sun, some relaxation and quiet in the waters, would cure all that ailed me. Arriving by bus in Kiryat Moshe, it‘s a short walk in this very Jerusalem neighborhood, lined with apartments and the occasional makolet (mini-market). We soon found ourselves on a little lane with homes that were deceptively small on the outside. Posters on walls, banners in windows and on balconies, stickers on benches, scrawled in graffiti, Hersh Goldberg-Polin has not left our thoughts since he was taken hostage at the Supernova festival, after heroically saving others by fending off grenades.
