Between the volume of information and the passion of the employees, a tour of the Keokuk Municipal Water Plant is akin to but much more enjoyable than, drinking from a firehose. The complexity and efficiency of the plant's day-to-day operations, the skill of the operators, and the feats of engineering and architecture are difficult to capture in words.

For nearly 60 years, one of the most familiar faces in Keokuk was William “Midnight” Richardson. His reputation is one that still “stands” — a testament to his good nature, dedication, and unique sleeping habits. Willie Richardson was born on Aug. 4, 1867, in Shelbina, Missouri. As a young boy, he moved to Keokuk with his mother, and the town became his home for 74 years before passing away on Feb. 2, 1951.

Community Action of Southeast Iowa (CAOSEI) is calling for nominations for a new low-income representative to join its agency board for Lee County, a capacity for community members to contribute to the fight against poverty and support economic empowerment at a local level. This volunteer position is crucial for providing oversight and guidance to CAOSEI’s numerous programs and initiatives aimed at alleviating the conditions and causes of poverty throughout southeast Iowa.

Is "I Have a Plan" this generation's "I Have a Dream"?

Why does the entire state of Nebraska along I-80 smell like the Shawshank Redemption sewer? The length of Nebraska is a long time to be retching. It's miserable.
