By Rhian Lowndes,Erin Arthur ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR) - The Roanoke Police Department responded to a single-motorcycle crash in the 1500 block of Golfside Avenue NW in Roanoke on Wednesday, May 29. Roanoke police say the crash occurred around 8:26 p.m. and upon arrival found a man with serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation by the Roanoke Police Department.

According to DOF officials with the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests' Eastern Divide Ranger District, the Joe Pye Fire is fully contained as of April 22.

( WFXR) - The Central and Southwest Virginia Honor Flight Mission 10 will be taking two veterans who served in World War II and seventeen who served in Vietnam to Washington D.C. free of cost. WFXR's Jermaine Ferell takes a look before the hub takes off. The honor flight will depart from the Bedford National D-Day Memorial at 10 a.m. on April 4 to Washington, D.C., and will return Sunday, April 6 around noon.

( WFXR) - Southwest and Central Virginia will celebrate the 10th annual Honor Flight that is set to take off to bring veterans from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam the chance to visit memorials created in their honor. It is said to be a journey of a lifetime to give veterans who were not properly thanked for their service a chance to receive thanks. The Honor Flight will take place in Washington, D.C., from April 4 to 6, and the visiting veterans will be free of charge.

Joining the WFXR News Team in the studio on January 31 was the cult classic actor Flash Gordon Sam Jones, iconic WWE wrestler Sergeant Slaughter, as well as comic book writer and Big Lick comic con creator J.D. Sutphin. Sam Jones is known for his character Flash Gordon, popularized in the early 1980s with a film and then other television roles.

UPDATE 1/29 11:34 A.M. ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR) - The Roanoke Police Department has identified the man believed to be connected to a shooting at a southeast Roanoke business that hospitalized a man on January 28. Roanoke PD said that 59-year-old Garod Sheldon Duckett of Waynesboro has been arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding. Through their investigation, RPD has determined that Duckett and the victim allegedly engaged in an argument while in the parking lot of a business in southeast Roanoke.
