In April, the Department of Transportation announced new airline rules requiring prompt automatic cash refunds to passengers when owed. The final rule took effect Oct. 28 and should simplify and speed up the process of receiving your money back due to a canceled or significantly changed flight or delayed luggage. “Passengers deserve to get their money back when an airline owes them — without headaches or haggling,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
