A YOUNG volunteer was met by surprise gatecrashers at her high school prom... her gran and aunt, bringing her a special award. Eva Knox was a finalist in the East Lothian Courier Community Champion Awards on Thursday, in recognition of her dedicated volunteering and the countless hours she has given to helping others. Eva could not attend the awards ceremony herself, as her end-of-school prom was taking place on the same evening.

40 1/1 A GREAT day was had by all at Aberlady Gala on Saturday, with plenty on offer for everyone. The celebrations started with a crowning and float parade, before children and adults enjoyed a day of games, stalls, live music, races and face painting. Gala day kicked off a week of events in the village, which will come to a close on Sunday (June 15).

34 1/1 NEIGHBOURS came together for a fun-filled day to round off Longniddry's Gala week on Saturday. Wild West-themed events took place throughout the village, including quizzes, a sandcastle competition, scavenger hunt and football tournament.

2 1/1 POLICE are trying to trace a driver who struck a man in Port Seton this morning (Sunday) and drove off. The 43-year-old man was injured in the incident and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. He was on Park Road, Port Seton, at around 1.20am when he was struck by the older-style SUV which was "being driven erratically". The driver of the vehicle left the scene, which police and ambulance crews then attended.
